1,000 students participated in the 2011 NY State Art Teachers Association Olympics of the Visual Arts competition in Saratoga. Competing against 40 schools from across New York state Farmingdale students excelled:

Did You Know? .....
Farmingdale High School Senior Roberto Cantos was named a finalist in the 56th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. More than 1.5 million juniors entered the 2011 program, but only about 15,000 entrants advanced to the final round. Roberto was also awarded a 2011 Mathematics Scholarship from the Long Island Conference Board. Only three students on Long Island received this honor. Roberto has been accepted into some of the most prestitious universities in the country, including Yale, Harvard and MIT.
Did You Know? .....
Farmingdale's Odyssey of the Mind team from Saltzman East Memorial Elementary School was selected to participate inthe World Finals at College Park, Maryland. Representatives at the event included students from Europe, Asia and South America, and states from across the country. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that challenges students to think, create and compete in long-term and spontaneous problem-solving events. .....More
Did You Know? .....
Students in the Farmingdale High School social studies research class participated in National History Day at Hofstra University. Donnareen Delansig-Salcedo and Emily Glascott placed third on Long Island for their website entry on the effects of propaganda during World War II. Additionally, Kirshani Gunaratnam was awarded the Best in School medal for her individual exhibit on the New Deal.
Did You Know? .....
For the FIFTH consecutive year, every one of our fall and winter varsity sports teams was named a Scholar/Athlete Team by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association. Scholar/Athlete Teams are recognized as such when they maintain an academic average of at least 90 percent during their sports season. Once again, ALL of our Spring Varsity teams
have achieved Scholar Athlete status! We have over 350 students participating in a Varsity sport (6 days/week!!) that have managed to maintain a team average of 93% or better!!
Did You Know? .....Two Farmingdale High School students, Adam Makkawi and Sami Turetsky, placed fourth in New York State at the DECA State Career Conference in Rochester. Adam and Sami went on to compete at the International Carer Conference in Orlando, Florida, in the Business Law and Ethics team event.

Farmingdale high School's Vocal Jazz Ensemble recently performed live during Fox 5's Good Day New York's "Glee" segment.
