Farmingdale High School Students Collect Food for Veterans
Farmingdale High School (FHS) students recently collected nonperishable food for veterans in the community as a way to give back and spread the holiday spirit. Senior students William Hroch and Nicholas Carbone spent several hours after school asking for food donations in downtown Farmingdale. After collecting and donating an entire car’s worth of food to Island Harvest as part of their “Operation Hope,” the students met the president and several Island Harvest workers to discuss additional ways to contribute to the community.
Island Harvest is a Long Island food bank dedicated to helping New York families in need. The food Hroch and Carbone collected will be donated to local veterans. Following the delivery, students met with one of the veterans who will receive the food and thanked him for his service.
The Farmingdale School District community continually strives to create a culture of giving, and is proud of William and Nicholas for their commitment to contributing to their community.
