Farmingdale Celebrates Music in Our Schools Month
Farmingdale Elementary School Students Perform Music Every Day for Their Peers
The Farmingdale School District recently celebrated the annual Music in Our Schools Month in several of the district's schools as part of the District’s commitment to providing a high-quality music education program. At Northside Elementary School, under the direction of Mrs. Katie Duke, Band members prepared a musical piece that they performed in the front hallway as students entered the school each morning in March. Band members enjoyed sharing their skill, while students and teachers enjoyed hearing the music and looking forward to see who will be performing each day and which instruments would be featured.
Music in our Schools Month is a program sponsored by the National Association for Music Education. The event is intended to raise awareness of the importance of music education for all children and to remind citizens that school is where all children should have access to music. Music teachers celebrate the month in many ways by offering special performances, lessons, sing-alongs and activities to bring their music programs to the forefront and display the positive benefits that school music brings to students and the community.
