The vibrant sound of a tuning orchestra fell into a focused silence as Director of Orchestras Thérèse M. Mannino shared a life-changing milestone with her students.

Ms. Mannino was recently named the winner of the Manilow Music Teacher Award. After being nominated alongside nine other Long Island educators, she secured the top honor through a community vote. This prestigious recognition from the Manilow Music Foundation celebrates her dedication to the arts at Farmingdale High School.

The award provides $10,000 in total support. This includes $5,000 in cash and $5,000 in "Manilow Bucks" to purchase new instruments for our student musicians. Ms. Mannino will also attend a special backstage ceremony on June 27 to receive the award from Barry Manilow himself.

These new instruments will ensure the music program continues to thrive, providing our students with the high-quality tools they need to master their craft for the upcoming school year and beyond.
