Students at Weldon E. Howitt Middle School and Farmingdale High School are currently participating in MatchCON, a national, online math competition—underway now through March 2, 2019.
The competition is taking place during regular math classes. Parents seeking the exact date of their child’s online competition can contact the classroom teacher. Any student eager to prepare on their own should reference the link, www.mathcon.org/study
For the past two years, Farmingdale students have progressed to the finals at both the middle school and the high school levels, and went on to compete at the national level. Middle School math teacher Virginia Dalton said, “We have been honored to have these elite mathematicians represent our district!”
The highest scoring students across the nation will be invited to the paper and pencil final competition—to be held April 27, 2019 in Chicago.
