Farmingdale School District Attends Nassau Region PTA Legislative Action Breakfast

A large contingency of Farmingdale School District administrators, teachers, and members of the board of education attended the Nassau Region PTA Legislative Action Breakfast at the Heritage Club at Bethpage on Saturday, March 2, 2019.

The event featured a panel discussion and fireside chat with a diverse group of local and state leaders and politicians. Panelists fielded questions regarding the potential legalization of recreational marijuana, school safety and mental health, the impact of unfunded mandates, and concerns around schools as polling places.

In attendance at the breakfast, were members of the NYS Senate and NYS Assembly, the Nassau-Suffolk School Board Association (NSSBA), the Long Island Education Coalition (LIEC), the Nassau County Council of School Superintendents (NCCSS), the Reform Educational Financing Inequities Today (REFIT), and the NYS PTA.  

The fireside chat included guest speakers MaryEllen Elia, NYS Commissioner of Education and Kyle Belokopitsky, Executive Director, NYS PTA.
