The Nassau Approved Umpires Association has awarded Farmingdale High School Coach Mike Bush and his junior varsity baseball team the 2019 Robert McConnin Sportsmanship Award. The award is presented to a manager and team that exemplifies respect and integrity for players, parents, and officials.
Only three teams in the county receive the sportsmanship award—one middle school team, one junior varsity team, and one varsity team.
“Coach Bush is a class act and it’s not surprising in the least that his leadership had a positive impact on the boys,” said Superintendent Paul Defendini. “Long term, this is more important than wins and losses. Way to go!”
The award ceremony was held at the Chateau Briand on Tuesday, June 4, 2019.
