Twenty-four FHS Theatre Students Inducted into Thespian Honor Society
The third annual induction ceremony of the International Thespian Honor Society was held at Farmingdale High School this past Tuesday. Twenty-four new students joined the ranks of their fellow thespians in Troupe #541. Thirty graduating seniors of the society also participated in the ceremony, accepting their tassels and taking their final bows on the Farmingdale High School stage.
Eligibility in the society requires the performance of a meritorious work in theatre arts, along with a number of points which are earned by putting in hours for rehearsal time, performances, working on the production crew and/or in the box office, doing committee work for board elected officials, stage managing, and various other volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.
“These students are extremely dedicated to theatre arts,” said teacher and advisor Jamie Capasso. “It’s amazing to have the opportunity to work with them, not only during the musical and play productions, but to watch them shine throughout the year in an honor society that showcases all aspects of theatre—both cast and crew."
