Section VIII Nassau County Athletics Statement from Executive Director Section VIII Athletics Patrick Pizzarelli.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, the Section VIII Superintendents Board met with both the Section VIII Executive Committee and the Section VIII Athletic Council to discuss the decision to postpone all fall sports in all Nassau County public schools under its jurisdiction.

After taking into consideration multiple factors, both groups affirmed the decision of the Section VIII Superintendents Board to postpone all fall sports until later in the 2020-2021 school year.

The plan is to play all three seasons of athletics to ensure that all student athletes have an opportunity to play sports during this 2020-2021 school year. Section VIII will release the actual season start dates by the middle of next week.
