Continuing Community Education
Farmingdale maintains one of the most extensive Continuing Community Education programs on Long Island.
A publication describing the various course offerings is mailed to district residents in the middle of August and early in January of each year. Information about registration procedures and schedules are included in the course offerings publication. For additional information, please contact the Director of Continuing Community Education at 516-434-5316 between the hours of 9 am to 1 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays (while classes are in session) and Thursdays and Fridays from 8 am to 4 pm.
Adult and continuing education has fully adapted to the challenges of COVID-19. By offering virtual and off-site courses this spring, Farmingdale residents will be able to pursue lifelong learning. The course brochure will be mailed to the community early in January and will offer over fifty choices of interesting and worthwhile learning experiences.
At no extra cost, each adult who registers for a virtual course can invite other household members, including children, to participate together on Google Meet. This allows participants to maintain safe social distancing and still stay active and involved.
Several off-site courses, including; tae kwon do, tennis and horseback riding, will observe DOH guidelines. Country Line Dancing, Volleyball, Golf, Yoga and Tai Chi will be inside (if Covid restrictions are lifted). If not, Country Line Dancing and Volleyball will be outdoors. Please see brochure for outdoor start dates. Golf will take place off site. Yoga and Tai Chi will be on Google Meet.
Online and mail-in registration will enable full and safe participation.
