Once A Daler, Always A Daler

Music with a Mission

Instruments gleamed under the warm June sun as the upbeat sounds of brass and percussion filled the air, immediately lifting the spirits of everyone gathered at the campsite.

Members of the Farmingdale High School Marching Band recently volunteered their time and talents at the Henry Kaufman Campground in Wheatley Heights. The students performed to support the annual fundraising walk for Sunrise Day Camp, an organization dedicated to providing free summer camp experiences for children with cancer and their siblings.

Supporting a Bright Cause

Our student-musicians started the day by leading the opening leg of the walk. They then repositioned to the finish line, playing energetic music to celebrate and motivate every participant who crossed.

After completing their performance, the students joined the community to enjoy the post-walk festivities, which included food, drink, and carnival games.

"We were honored and excited when the walk organizers asked us to return for another year," said Band Director Matthew DeMasi. "It is a blessing to be able to provide music for this event and bring energy and smiles to all of the participants!"

The Farmingdale High School Marching Band looks forward to continuing this partnership and bringing music to outstanding community causes for years to come.
