Farmingdale High School Girls Swim and Dive Team Claims First Division Title in 23 Years

The Farmingdale High School Girls Swim and Dive Team captured the Nassau County division championship title at the Eisenhower Park Aquatic Center, finishing first out of ten teams with 637 points. This victory marks the program's first division title since 2003 and the first time in school history that the team has won a championship-format meet.
The team was led by first-place finishes from Avery Schuhmacher in the 1-Meter Dive and the 200 Free Relay team of Julia Fiore, Maggie Kelly, Kaylee JeanBaptiste, and Julia Busch. Demonstrating depth across all events, the team placed four entrants in the top ten in the 50 Free, 1-Meter Dive, and 100 Breaststroke. Maeve O'Keefe earned a county-qualifying time in the 200 IM, while Lucy Cutter, Mackenzie Fitzpatrick, Kaitlyn Thurston, and Kailey McGuigan recorded major time drops.
"A division championship defines a program as one of the best in Nassau County and on Long Island," said Coach Ken Ilchuck. "It is a tremendous step forward for our program and a testament to all the hard work and persistence of our seniors in particular and this team as a whole. I speak for the entire coaching staff when I say we could not be prouder of this group."
