A large contingency of Farmingdale School District administrators, teachers, and members of the board of education attended the Nassau Region PTA Legislative Action Breakfast at the Heritage Club at Bethpage on Saturday, March 2, 2019.
Farmingdale teachers from across the district gathered on a recent Saturday morning to participate in a Long Island Writing Project (LIWP) workshop centered around teaching social comprehension. The LIWP is an organization of Long Island teachers (K-12), who believe in the power of collaboration and the transformative power of writing.
On February 7, 2019, Farmingdale High School hosted the All District Band Concert, bringing together student musicians from all six Farmingdale schools—elementary through high school.
Farmingdale School District sent 114 of their top student-musicians to the 2019 Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA) All County Music Festival—held at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts on multiple days in January. The festival brings music students together from schools throughout Nassau County.
The Wellness Council of the Farmingdale School District hosted a night of healthy mind and body workshops on Wednesday evening, January 23, 2019, at Weldon E. Howitt Middle School. The evening included yoga, drum circles, calming activities, and a sampling of healthy foods and snacks. The PTA also held a blood drive in the cafeteria.

This year, the Farmingdale School District implemented an elementary school initiative to get K-5 students moving in the classroom during their learning time. A committee of teachers, administrators, board of education members, and the district’s athletic director worked together to design a curriculum that would incorporate “healthy-mind healthy-body” habits into everyday lesson plans—and it’s proving to be a great success!
Northside Elementary School kicked off their Pick A Reading Partner (PARP) program at a school-wide assembly on Monday, January 14, 2019. This year’s theme is Reading Gives you the Wings to Fly.
