The primary function of the School Counseling (Guidance) Department in the Farmingdale School District is to help each and every student find a learning environment that will maximize his or her potential. Certified School Counselors are available in our middle and high schools to help your child through interviews, consultations with teachers and parents, group guidance and small group counseling. Interviews may be concerned with educational, vocational, social or ethical guidance. An interview may be initiated by a student, parent, teacher, or counselor.

  • PSAT Results

PSAT/NMSQT® and the PSAT 9 were taken by many of our students on Oct. 10, 2018.  Score Reports are being sent to students by the Collegeboard via email.  There will be an evening presentation for families of 9th Grade students on Jan. 15, 2019 at 6 p.m. in the Lecture Hall to discuss results.  And, counselors will conduct a workshop after school on Jan. 29th to follow up with the students.

Also, your Guidance Counselors will be calling sophomores and juniors down starting this Wednesday, Dec. 12th to help them understand how to:

 Log in to or create a College Board account online to see scores and test performance details.

 Get free, personalized SAT practice. The PSAT/NMSQT score unlocks a free, personalized practice through Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy®. Students go to, create an account, and link their College Board and Khan Academy accounts for a plan based on their test results.

 Explore Careers. When students log in to see their scores, they can connect with Roadmap to Careers. They answer questions to find out which careers interest them, what degrees they’ll need, and what high school courses to take.

 Get started on BigFuture. Students can begin their College Search using BigFuture™.

See the attached flyers from Collegeboard for more information about both the PSAT 9 and the PSAT/NMSQT.

Farmingdale Schools are committed to personal, social and academic excellence. As a school community committed to the education of the whole child, we are working to reinforce specific core values and share them with all members of the school community. These values are the basis for all human relations within the school setting. We uphold the values by consistently maintaining standards of conduct and respect, and through celebrating their manifestation within the school and community.
